The most tranquil county in England welcomes you.

East Lodge: traditional, modern, quirky, cosy, fun, transports you to the tranquility of England's quietest and undiscovered corner. East Lodge is on Chillingham Castle estate grounds: historic, eccentric, and romantic. When you stay with us you will have free access to the castle and its treasures.

Geographically situated between the majestic Cheviot hills - snow capped in winter, purple with heather in summer and the broad yellow sandy coastline of our country's most wonderful beaches: as great for surfing as for buckets and spades. At night you'll be bewitched under a magical blanket of stars. My nirvana is yours. Share it with your family. Use us as a base for exploring the north east or cosy up with gin and an open fire.

An open fire in winter. Sit and play board games. Or a fantastic place to base yourself for your summer adventures to beaches and hills. Or , a bit of both: on your doorstep, walk around the many hundred acres of Chillingham.

We maybe a small castle, but we pack all the modern luxuries into the space. The dining room doubles up as a games table. You’ll notice I have inlaid a chess board (my eldest is a keen player) a guitar signed by Mark Knopfler (my youngest is a keen player. And finally a backgammon board, my favourite game.

All rooms are designed to meet and exceed your needs and comfort. If you are staying as a couple, the bathroom is ensuite to the master bedroom.

For larger parties the access is shared with the twin bedroom.

Chillingham Castle is a short walk away.  When you stay with us, you will have free access to the castle and all the treasures within.

Chillingham is our favourite place in the Northeast.Michael and Kirsty, regular visitors.

Over many decades, Northumberland has steadily grown in popularity for a holiday destination. It has not become so busy that it’s a tourist trap. It retains its feeling of being an undiscovered gem. A trip to Chillingham Castle captures this perfect balance. Easily a day’s worth of entertainment for the family. It’s eccentric collection has been gathered by my father who took custody of Chillingham in 1980 when it had no roofs and barely a floor. Now, it is brimming with all manner of things, ghosts included.

Fantastic beaches within 30 minutes for surfing, kite-surfing or buckets and spades.

Lose your heart to Northumberland and, find your soul.
